Fried onion appetizer

WORST: Oms (g) of fat and 4,100 mg of sodium-over twice the daily sodium limit of healthy adults.

When you are a lover of fried onions, it may be your waistline that flowers. One popular restaurant has 1,949 calories, 161 grams (g) of fat and 4,100 mg of sodium-over twice the daily sodium limit of healthy adults.

BEST: Kebabs vegetable

Grilled vegetable kebabs are a very low-calorie alternative to fried onions. If you don’t find it on the menu, ask your appetizer for a side of grilled vegetables. Veggie kabobs are also easy to make: Skewer onions, red and green bell peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, and zucchini. Brush with a low fat garlic and a seasoning marinade. Two big kebabs are going to have about 75 calories.

WORST: Artichoke dip spinach. Dip.

Don’t let you be fooled by the word spinach. Classic artichoke spinach dip is not a good novice. There are some 1600 calories, 100 grams of fat and 2 500 mg of sodium in a typical order. The trouble is the saturated fat-laden cream base. If you make this dip at home, use a base of nonfat Greek yogurt instead.

BEST: Green Spinach

The right beverages are low in calories, but enough to reduce the amount you consume during the remainder of your meal. This is very well done with salads made of spinach or other leafy greens. Studies suggest that if you continue with salad, you’ll consume around 10% less during a meal. There are about 80 calories in a cup of fresh spinach and a teaspoon of vinaigrette.
